We asked ourselves what wonderful thing would top off the 2009/2010 Halliggye Iron Age Fort refurbishment?
It’s a four-house settlement, in an Iron Age fort, on top of a hill, with fantastic west facing views, and it’s on Trelowarren - It’s already incredible!
‘Community’, we thought, ‘sunset,’ we thought, – what Halliggye really needs is somewhere to sit outside and enjoy that amazing view; somewhere to enjoy a sundowner; somewhere to toast your toes. Answer? A firepit of course - plus a basket with some rugs and cushions in each house, so that you can wrap up warm.
And what else have we done?
For all the cottages we have re-laid the lane and banked up the edges so cars don’t park on them. We have cleared the ground on top of the Fogou and re-set all of the fencing and for inside we have arranged internet access.
Halliggye House has had a face-lift: new carpets and curtains and cushions and lighting and pictures and tvs (including one upstairs) inside, and something rather surgical sounding called needle-gunning outside. Doctor’s Cottage has an upgrade with a new terrace outside and new sofas, more mirrors (as requested) and better lighting and a bigger more beautiful woodburner inside. And finally Fogou has got a new floor and new sofas and new tvs as well as a tripling of the outdoor terrace
All three cottages at Halliggye are available for Timeshare and Self-catering holidays
